Boys & Girls Club – Approximately 120 children attend the Thursday afternoon Bible study led by a team of 8 volunteers. Each teacher meets with the same group of students throughout the year so that relationships are formed as the love of God is shared. Each session includes a Bible story, life application, and handouts that emphasize God’s desire to have a personal relationship with each child. How can you be involved? Please consider volunteering as a substitute teacher!

hospitalministry2

Hospital Ministry – every Tuesday night you can find members of FBC in area hospital waiting rooms ministering to those keeping watch over loved ones by offering a snack, a word of encouragement, a listening ear, and prayer. To volunteer for this ministry – supplying snacks, or going to the hospitals, please contact the church office.

Meals on Wheels – Our members volunteer to deliver meals each week to the homes of shut-ins. Without these meals, many of the recipients would be in a nursing home, but because meals are available they are able to remain in their homes. To volunteer or get further details for this ministry please call or email the church office.

Tutoring2Parkview Tutoring – For several years our church has participated with tutoring children at Parkview Elementary School. Many of these children would likely become dropouts without the extra help and encouragement offered. To learn more about this ministry or to volunteer please contact the church office.

wesley house ministry 2

Wesley House– Several years ago, one of our Sunday School classes built a Playground for Jesus at the Wesley House. Since that time we’ve carried on activities there – sports camps, art lessons, Vacation Bible Schools – all designed to build relationships with underprivileged young people and lead them to Christ. Opportunities are seasonal – more in the summer –  to become involved please contact the church office.

Indiana

130921_0017First Baptist Church, in conjunction with the Lauderdale Baptist Association,  has partnered with Northwest Indiana Baptists to develop new churches, revitalize churches that have closed their doors, and train and equip leaders.  Past trips have included construction/clean-up work and a men’s conference for training and encouraging leaders.

More recently, we have partnered with a new church plant, Servant Fellowship, to help with a community wide Easter Egg Hunt, and Back to School Bash. We are excited about future endeavors with Servant Fellowship and we look forward to God’s work in Indiana.

Trinidad: For many years we have maintained a relationship with the Lord’s work in Trinidad. Trinidad’s population is of Indian descent and they are an English speaking people making it possible to communicate without translators. The majority of the population is Hindu. Each year we work there and send Christmas treats to the children. Volunteering in Trinidad usually involves VBS, Crusades, & personal evangelism. Volunteers are responsible for their own airfare, but church members receive a stipend from the church. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the pastor.

Haiti: Recently, several of our members have participated on Mission in Haiti with But God Ministries.  Projects have included Vacation Bible Schools, Medical Clinics, and Construction Projects. We look forward to continuing our mission in Haiti.
